PA Chip Trip – 062117

June 21st 2017,

Once we hit the road I decided to do a little pre-research and ate at Miss Oxford Diner, to get some food before. Damn fine coffee and Cherry Pie.  After we ate, and a few miles down the road is a covered bridge and it felt very much like Beetlejuice!

Even though those two locations are worth the trip alone, the main reason we went to Nottingham PA was to visit the Herr’s potato chip factory and take a tour. I have to say I never thought I would be sitting in the factory and handed fresh hot potato chips right from the line. So amazing! Plus the gift shop has all the crazy flavors and an Oops section which I bought a giant bag full for super cheap.

I think I have enough chips and pretzels to last until the next adventure.

Willy Wonka, Frisbee Golf, and a Musical Performance – Saturday June 3rd, 2017

The morning started with a special screening of the original Willy Wonka at the Angelika Film Center at the Mosaic District in Fairfax, Va.  Definitely made sure to eat lots of sugary/chocolatey treats to experience it fully.

Then it was some lunch and frisbee golf for the rest of the day at Burke Lake Park

Then I got a message from my buddy Jae, who is an awesome photographer, about an event he was photographing and to meet up. Turns our the Auld Shebeen was hosting a Beard Competition, and oh what an assortment of whiskers and silliness turned out!

If that wasn’t enough to fill an evening, afterwards was a album release party for The Family Plots at Epicure Cafe showcasing two Washington Ballet dancers along with the album playing. It was a magical evening and full of fun and amazing people. Below are some snaps from the adventure!

Walk With Locals – JFK100

Saturday, May 27th 2017,

Walk With Locals had an awesome photo meet-up at the Kennedy Center in DC. It wasn’t the normal walk, which usually consists of a small business and walk through town. We had the pleasure to be exploring the center and during the 100 year anniversary celebration was amazing, and I even got to go on the upper level which I have never experienced. It was so lovely to see so many people having fun and experimenting. Seriously check out the tagged photos as there are some amazing talent creating and crafting some amazing works and collaborations. #wwlxjfk100

Here is the group that met up!

My favorite shot of the day was a quick capture that I tweaked a little using the phone app Mextures.

Walk With Locals – Double Exposed

A wonderful weekend,

To start it of on Saturday at 11:23am a group called Walk With Locals, definitely worth checking out, had a meet up at Commonwealth Joes Coffee Roasters in Arlington, VA. Never knew about the shop before, being that it is blocks from the Pentagon. The clean exterior opens into a wonderful open and natural tone lounge, and the best part was a special deal for WWL event attendees so I got a super tasty ice coffee and chocolate croissant.

The group usually meets up monthly for photo walks and getting to know new people and the city around I set out to experiment with some double exposures using my x100s along the streets and local parks. I am enjoying tinkering with the camera as there are so many hidden features to play with. Here are some from my Instagram feed:

Dual exposure in camera #x100s #WWLxCWJ #walkwithlocals and definitely check out @alexmangionephoto with your #coffee and #photography needs, happy traveling new friend
