AiW Summer Studio 08
These collection of images show the in-class example/tutorials I did while teaching Graphic Design at The Art Institute of Washington during their Summer Studio 08 program. Some of the images are recreations of actual posters and were used for strictly example and instructional purposes. I taught the students basics in using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign with three projects; a postcard, poster/advertisement, and a magazine cover and inside spread. Along with teaching them the basics I would show different variations of my in-class examples as questions came up. I stressed simplicity and during every class I would show many examples by different artists that tied to the days projects. I also taught usage of royalty-free and stock photography, typography, and also many different usages of Graphic Design in different industries. Below are some of my in-class examples.
Visually Wired Postcard
This postcard was made for the Art institute of Washington to promote the Visually Wired festival to the guest speakers that attended the event. The Illustration to the right is of the E Street Theatre. Made using Adobe Illustrator.
Illustration
Done while I was at The Art Institute of Washington studying conceptual art. The first set of 4 is a series of connecting illustrations that 2 were recreated as physical maquettes. The last one is based off of a photo of an alley that I recreated and colored in Adobe Photoshop.
